Collaboration
Criminology is a research area with high relevance in public debate and government work. In addition to other universities, the Department of Criminology collaborates with authorities such as the Police and the Prison and Probation Service, not least through various forms of commissioned educations.
Criminological organizations and networks
The Nordic Research Council for Criminology (NSfK)
NSfK was established in 1962 by the Ministries of Justice in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The purpose of the Council is to further criminological research within the member countries and advise the Nordic governments on issues related to criminology. The activities of NSfK are funded by the Nordic Ministries of Justice.
The European Society of Criminology
The European Society of Criminology was founded in 2000. The Society aims to bring together in Europe persons actively engaged in research, teaching and/or practice in the field of Criminology.
The International Society for Criminology
The International Society for Criminology (ISC) was founded in Rome, Italy in 1938. Its objective is to support activities and research designed to produce a better understanding of the crime phenomenon on an international scale.
The Stockholm Prize in Criminology
The Stockholm Prize in Criminology is an international prize established with the support of the Ministry of Justice. The prize is awarded for outstanding achievements in criminological research or for the application of research results by practitioners for the reduction of crime and the advancement of human rights.
